when you’re asleep you’re nothing. you feel nothing, you think about nothing, and your mind wanders free from the troubles that plague it.
but then you wake up, and it all comes back to you, like a tsunami rushing full speed into your chest, ripping apart your ribcage and pushing against your heart until it feels ready to burst.
and those few hours of numbness invoked through sleep become meaningless and unwanted, because you wake up in more pain than you fell asleep with.
